Midsummer is a holiday in the Bulgarian national calendar, which is celebrated on June 24 each year.
According to folk beliefs, the night before New Year's Day is extremely suitable for the so-called "grabbing" (stealing) and "cheating" (luring) the fertility of the fields and livestock (redirecting it from someone else's - to one's own), although the ritual is also done on St. George's Day. There is also a belief that on the night before Midsummer, where there is a buried possession, a blue flame comes out of the ground and shines brightly.
